Native Plant Nurseries in Massachusetts

Massachusetts was largely deforested by the 19th century and has since reforested substantially, but much of that forest consists of invasive plants and early-successional species that lack the ecological relationships of pre-settlement plant communities. The state's pitch pine plains of Cape Cod, granite barrens of the Berkshires, and Atlantic coast barrier beaches all support distinct native plant assemblages that require species-specific restoration approaches.
